Resident takes on restoration of neglected cemeteries

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - - Local resident Joel Parry spends his free time restoring two local cemeteries and in the process, is helping to uncover local history. According to Parry, there is a lot of historical information in the cemeteries that people probably don't know about because of how neglected they've been.

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Unwanted visitors are leaving a big mess for the caretaker of a Cedar Rapids cemetery to clean-up. The cemetery even had to hire help to get rid of the guests. Czech National Cemetery sits directly across the street from the old landfill in Cedar Rapids. The landfill closed about a year ago, and that opened the door to a smelly situation.

JAMES BROWN's secret love child is fighting the late soul star's estate in an effort to allow fans to visit his final resting place. LaRhonda Petit Brown claims the singer is currently buried in a crypt in the garden of one of his legitimate daughters - but she thinks Brown's grave should be accessible to all.

But now other family members are complaining that Josephine and Valmai Lamas really should get round to organising a funeral, as the body is now in an advanced state of decomposition.

Malta’s only important late Gothic sculpture is the white marble state of St Paul which, since at least the 18th century, has been enshrined in an aedicule on the west facade of the church of St Paul Outside the Walls, at Rabat. Its provenance is unknown but the quality of the work is indicative of a prestigious commission perhaps for the Cathedral or, possibly, for the hallowed burial ground, and Pauline pilgrimage centre, at Rabat itself. The expressively modelled head, the stiff pleats of the drapery, and the elegantly elongated body with its accentuated S-curve point to a good workshop, probably, although not necessarily, in Sicily.

Malawi, Africa - Unknown persons in Zomba ex humed a grave and stole the body of 3-year-old Alinafe Kasingo just days after she was buried, police said yesterday. Police spokesperson for Eastern Headquarters, Eureka Chapusa, Alinafe Kasinga of Kadzuwa Village in Zomba died on Monday last week and was buried a day later.

Vietnam– The Quang Tri Museum has recently received an ancient coffin made from a tree trunk, according to the museum’s director, Mai Truong Manh. The coffin was discovered on August 28 in Trung Chi village, Dong Luong ward, Dong Ha commune at 1.2 m underground when local residents were digging for the construction of an electricity post.
