AKRON, Ohio -- For many people, their pets are their lives. Now, when some owners depart from this life they can be laid to rest with their pet. Cleveland television station WEWS reported that a historic Akron cemetery is allowing pet owners and their animal friends to be buried together.

INDIANAPOLIS -- At least 102 buried urns were stolen from a west-side Indianapolis cemetery in the past week, and police say the thief or thieves may intend to sell the metal. The urns were taken from the ground at Floral Park Cemetery, upsetting the families of the dead whose ashes were in the containers, WRTV-TV in Indianapolis reported.

Traverse City, Michigan - DNA from the recently exhumed body of college football hero George Gipp shows he was not the father of a child born shortly before his death, quelling longstanding rumors, relatives said Saturday. Gipp's remains were taken October 4 for testing from a cemetery near the Upper Peninsula village of Laurium. Rick Frueh, whose grandmother was Gipp's sister, said in a statement he authorized the exhumation, which angered some family members.

MADISON , WI — The Wisconsin Supreme Court has granted the Department of Justice’s petition to review a recent court of appeals ruling that held that three men’s alleged attempted sexual assault with a dead woman was not forbidden by Wisconsin’s sexual assault law, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today.

Statistics show that the number of people choosing to remember a loved one through cremation is growing. In 2006, about 30 percent of Americans who passed away were cremated. Now, a Minnesota couple is taking cremation to new heights.

MOUNT ETNA, Ind. -- Authorities are investigating possible human remains found at Salamonie Lake in northern Indiana. An angler found the small bone fragments near the reservoir over the weekend at the same site about 30 miles southwest of Fort Wayne where human remains were found last spring.

HILLSBOROUGH, NH – The body of a woman who died more than 180 years ago was stolen from the remote Bible Hill Cemetery sometime around Halloween, police said yesterday. The gravesite of Sarah Symonds, who died in June 1821 at the age of either 30 or 32, was excavated with a rectangular hole dug 5.5 feet deep, police said. Mounds of dirt from the hole were left on either side of the hole, and the headstone was intact.

SACO. ME - Jean McCurdy of Saco still has nightmares about her
mother’s funeral. McCurdy and her four sisters say they are suffering from severe emotional
distress as a direct result of the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home’s
negligence in the handling of their mother's body. During the funeral a red-tinged liquid dripped from the coffin of
McCurdy's mother's, distracting all the mourners and the priest leading the
service. The family is suing the funeral home, seeking an unspecified amount in
damages.
