Site of Qin cemetery discovered in Xi'an

Archaeologists have unearthed another site of Qin cemetery of Warring States period in capital city Xi'an, homeland of the famous terra cotta relics. This is following the discovery of China's largest Qin cemetery, No.1 tomb of Duke Qin Mausoleum of Spring and Autumn period in Fengxiang county, Shannxi province some 20 years ago. The excavation is underway. Jiao Nanfeng, director of Shannxi Archaeological Institute said that they have started the excavation of a grand cemetery and another tomb chamber of burial articles. Although the cemetery has been partially destroyed by grave robbers, there is still high hope to discover large amount of treasures and cultural relics. Experts believe that the grand cemetery has a neatly arranged layout and still remains intact. Judging from the burial articles, they guess that the owner of the tomb should be either the grandmother Xia of the emperor Qinshihuang or other emperor during that period of time.
