Talks could lead to professional excavation of historic site

ALBANY, N.Y. Talks could soon be under way to excavate what may be a historic burial ground on a Hudson River island. That's according to scientists from the State Museum in Albany, who yesterday went to examine the site on Rogers Island in Fort Edward, about 40 miles north of Albany. Several sets of skeletal remains have been uncovered there by amateur archaeologists Richard and JoAnne Fuller. The couple say the site may be a burial ground dating back to the French and Indian War. Christina Rieth, head archaeologist at the State Museum, says it's too early to say what time period the remains are from.
