Taphophilia (dot) Com would not be possible without the knowledge, experience and talent of DarkestWeb. From
its conception and early development, DarkestWeb
was faced with many challenges; from inspiring and motivating, to providing guidance and direction. The continued dedication and support has produced results greater than ever expected, and for this, I owe a huge debt of gratitude.

SEABROOK - Exactly who owns and has profited from the now-closed Bayview Crematory in Seabrook? That's what Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams wants to know and why his office is examining information and records obtained after search warrants were issued Friday on two funeral homes in Massachusetts owned or co-owned by Derek Wallace.

Reams said he was searching for financial and other information to "fill in the blanks" on questions raised when authorities searched and closed Bayview in February.

Reams also received permission from the Massachusetts courts to search the homes of Wallace and of his stepfather and mother, Larry and Linda Stokes. Larry Stokes is listed as the current owner of Bayview.

The homes of Wallace and the Stokes are in the same neighborhood in Salisbury, Mass., said Reams, near Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, a funeral home co-owned by Wallace.

At 9:15 a.m. Friday, said Reams, New Hampshire State Police and Massachusetts State Police went to Simplicity and to the Hart-Wallace Funeral Home in Lawrence, Mass., which is also owned by Wallace.

"We're looking for financial and ownership information," Reams said Friday.

Wallace's funeral director's license was suspended by the state of Massachusetts for complaints received from clients and for operating a funeral home and crematory, which is barred in Massachusetts. Wallace has been allowed to continue as a funeral director as he appeals the ruling.

Reams' investigation of Bayview began with an investigation of former state deputy medical examiners Gene Nigro, 47, of Raymond, and Exeter, and Kathrine Wieder, 50, of Newburyport, Mass.

Both have been indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury on counts of fraudulent handling of cremation certificates, that they signed cremation certificates and received payment for the service without having viewed the bodies, as is required.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt but rather a jury's determination enough evidence exists to conduct a trial in the case.

The investigation of the former deputy medical examiners and Bayview are now separate, Reams said.

None of the indictments against Nigro and Wieder involves Bayview.

Reams and New Hampshire State Police searched Bayview on Feb. 23, searching for financial records involving Nigro.

After they arrived they allegedly found questionable operating procedures, including 12 urns of ashes, four of which have yet to be identified, and a decomposing body in an unrefrigerated unit. Bayview had operated unregistered and uninspected for at least six years.

Authorities closed it down.

"We had enough questions coming out of Bayview," said Reams, "we're trying to get answers."
