ADVANCE STAFF REPORT

New allegations have surfaced that a Rosebank man already under indictment on charges of harvesting body parts may be at it again. Prosecutors told Eyewitness News they are investigating new claims that Joseph Nicelli -- a former Brooklyn funeral home director and embalmer -- may have approached a family with an offer they couldn't refuse.

Nicelli, who is free on $250,000 bail after being accused with three others of slicing open cadavers and swapping bones for PVC piping to turn a profit, allegedly told a Brooklyn family he could bury their loved one for $4,800.

The cost included a limousine, plot, burial, one-day viewing, and a casket for Clinton Duvall, a 41-year-old construction worker who died May 20, a friend of the deceased told Eyewitness News.

Duvall's family was asked to fill out a death certificate, to get the body immediately and was also asked about the victim's previous medical history.

They later learned the funeral director was the same man facing charges in the body parts scandal. Nicelli denied all charges to an Eyewitness News reporter.

Prosecutors were surprised to learn Nicelli was still soliciting new business. The Health Department never revoked his license to be a funeral director, the television news report said.

Duvall's intact body remains at the morgue.
