A Taphophilia Thank You...

Taphophilia (dot) Com would not be possible without the knowledge, experience and talent of DarkestWeb. From
its conception and early development, DarkestWeb
was faced with many challenges; from inspiring and motivating, to providing guidance and direction. The continued dedication and support has produced results greater than ever expected, and for this, I owe a huge debt of gratitude.

When Stephen McCalley bought the former Fisher Funeral Home in Adel, he knew he was getting a hearse, a building and some business. But he also got something else. DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Dallas County mausoleum contains two sets of cremated remains that are still unidentified.

When Stephen McCalley bought the former Fisher Funeral Home in Adel, he knew he was getting a hearse, a building and some business. But he also got something else.

"Among the things we found was a number of containers of cremated remains that had been unclaimed," the funeral director said.

Thanks to an article in the local newspaper, most were reconnected with family members after decades of being apart. But six remained.

"We spent almost a year trying to contact families, tracking information that we did have on file," McCalley said.

Last week, two of the remains were claimed and were sent to a family in Colorado. The other four were brought to Oakdale Cemetery and places in crypt 11-12.

One is identified as a 14-month-old girl and the other is identified as Charles Day. The remaining two have yet to be identified.

McCalley said if no one claims the four remains by the fall, he would engrave their names on the crypt.
