Repo Job Nets More Than Van

FORT WORTH, Texas -- An employee of a vehicle repossession company picked up and delivered a confiscated van Wednesday morning during a routine call. After the repossessed van was delivered to the Tarrant County abandoned vehicle lot, however, the case turned into a police investigation.
Workers at the abandoned vehicle lot discovered human bodies in the back of the van and notified the bank that authorized the repossession. A bank representative contacted the repossession company.

Fort Worth police were dispatched to the abandoned vehicles lot and confirmed the presence of three badly decomposed human bodies in body bags in the van. Authorities said the bodies were those of elderly individuals. One was from Dallas County, and two were from Tarrant County.

The van had been purchased by North Star Transportation Inc., a body transport company that had contracted with a funeral home to keep the remains in cold storage. The transport company lost its cold storage privileges.

The company also had a contract with the Tarrant County medical examiner's office. The contract has been suspended, according to NBC 5.

The medical examiner's office said the bodies dated from 1999 to 2000. The death of each person was confirmed to be from natural causes, according to the medical examiner's office.

"The problem is the body bags have been reused from previous events, so we're not sure who they are, to be honest with you," said Dr. Nizam Peerwanie, Tarrant County medical examiner.

According to an NBC 5 report, the bodies had been scheduled for cremation.

The medical examiner's office is working to identify bodies and notify surviving family members.

Fort Worth police are investigating the case as a possible crime, although, no law pertaining to the situation has been found.

The van was repossessed from a private residence in Hurst, Texas. http://www.nbc5i.com/news/4247901/detail.html

The cemetery is an open space among the ruins, covered in winter with violets and daisies. It might make one in love with death, to think that one should be buried in so sweet a place.
