A Taphophilia Thank You...

Taphophilia (dot) Com would not be possible without the knowledge, experience and talent of DarkestWeb. From
its conception and early development, DarkestWeb
was faced with many challenges; from inspiring and motivating, to providing guidance and direction. The continued dedication and support has produced results greater than ever expected, and for this, I owe a huge debt of gratitude.

17,300 graves at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery to be exhumed next June SINGAPORE : A total of 17,300 graves in Choa Chu Kang Chinese Cemetery are be exhumed in June 2006 under the second phase of the government's exhumation programme. The is in line with its policy to limit the burial period for all graves to 15 years to make way for future burials.

The National Environment Agency explains that the Choa Chua Kang cemetery is only 318 hectares in size and will be used up by 2013 at the current burial rate without the 15-year bury-in policy.
The first phase of the exhumation programme, involving 18,000 graves,
started in December last year and will be completed by February 2006.

The affected graves under the second phase are located at Chinese
Cemetery Block 2 and they date back to between 1954 and 1971.

The NEA is asking the next-of-kin wishing to claim the remains of those
buried there to do so early.

It says it will publish newspaper notices and the next-of-kin can use
these notices to make their claims.

Signs will also be displayed at the cemetery to indicate the graves to
be exhumed.

And during the coming Qin Ming festival, starting March 19, NEA
officers will be distributing pamphlets and the necessary forms on site
to visiting next-of-kin.

Information about the exhumation will also be posted on the NEA website
at www.nea.gov.sg. - CNA

Some can gaze and not be sick, But I could never learn the trick. There's this to say for blood and breath, They give a man a taste for death.
