Forensic Team Prepares to Exhume Houdini's Body PDF Print E-mail

New York(AP) -- Harry Houdini is about to make another escape. This time, the famed magician will be exhumed from his grave
in New York City so a dream team of forensic experts can try to determine whether his death 81 years ago was murder. No autopsy was performed when Houdini died in 1926 at age 52. But the authors of Houdini's biography suggest the magician may have been poisoned by members of a group known as the Spiritualists.

One expert said if Houdini had been poisoned with a heavy metal, the evidence should still be there.

A great-granddaughter of one of Houdini's Spiritualist enemies supports the exhumation.

A lawyer for Houdini's family said paperwork for the exhumation will be filed Monday, and it could be months before the body is disinterred.
