A Taphophilia Thank You...

Taphophilia (dot) Com would not be possible without the knowledge, experience and talent of DarkestWeb. From
its conception and early development, DarkestWeb
was faced with many challenges; from inspiring and motivating, to providing guidance and direction. The continued dedication and support has produced results greater than ever expected, and for this, I owe a huge debt of gratitude.

Summer flag ceremonies held on Tuesdays at Lincoln Tomb PDF Print E-mail
Written by DeadGirl
Friday, 09 June 2006
June 6, 2006 (SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) - Beginning tonight, one visitor every Tuesday to the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield will leave the site with a flag. The special touch is part of a flag lowering and retreat ceremony that will be performed at the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site on Tuesday nights this summer, ending August 29th.

The United States flag flying over the tomb on Tuesdays will be lowered during the ceremony and presented to a visitor.

The ceremony will be performed by a Civil War re-enactment unit called the 114th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry Reactivated. The original 114th Regiment was created in 1862 and fought in the Civil War until 1865.

The ceremony will include the firing of a Civil War-era mortar and period music.
