FERNANDINA BEACH, FL -- A cemetery swap has a Fernandina Beach man looking for answers why his wife is not where he buried her 34 years ago.
Eddie Shepherd says his wife's body is no longer in the Bosque Bello Cemetery but has been relocated to the Jones Cemetery in Callahan. Shepherd says his family learned of the exchange that allegedly happened ten years ago from his wife's family.

Shepherd is taking legal action. The husband says he never gave anyone permission to remove the body of his wife, Bonnie Kay. She died in a boating accident at the age of 18 in 1972.

Shepherd says, "It is kind of hard to talk about this, 34 years ago, you do not forget."

The Jones Cemetery which is named in the lawsuit is asking that the case be dismissed. The cemetery in legal papers listed numerous reasons including that Shepherd , "allowed others to take charge of the remains."

Shepherd in his pleading is asking that his wife's body be returned to the cemetery in Fernandina Beach. He is also seeking damages for pain and suffering.
