Funeral home holding body hostage?

Tampa, Florida – Rodney Harden gathered along with other family members last March for a somber occasion; the funeral of his brother John Harden Jr. And while a loved one’s death is never easy to take, what happened next made matters worse. After Harden’s funeral, everyone at the church expected to come to the cemetery for his burial, but that never happened.

Judy Brown, the deceased man’s mother, is now suing Harmon Funeral Home. According to court documents, Brown paid Harmon $1,400 dollars for embalming and burial. But Brown’s attorney says Harmon is now holding the body hostage, until the home is paid $2,000 more.

A man at Harmon Funeral Home who would not identify himself told a reporter for Tampa Bay’s 10 News “no comment”. And the home’s attorney did not return a phone call.

Harden’s body is now being held at a cold storage facility in St. Petersburg. That company, Directors Service Incorporated, is also named in the lawsuit.

And now this Tampa family won’t rest, until their loved one finally rests in peace.
