Woman, son arrested after husband's corpse found in occupied grave

July 26, 2005
Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police charged a mother and son Tuesday with killing her 64-year-old husband and burying the body in an occupied grave.

Bond is $200,000 apiece for 32-year-old Christopher H. Valdivia Jr. and 56-year-old Mary Valdivia. They're originally from Topeka, Kan.

Both are charged with murder in the death of Christopher R. Valdivia Sr.

His body was found Sunday at a grave in Hondo by relatives of an 81-year-old man who'd been buried at the same site two weeks ago.

Hondo police chief Buddy Lovestock says the younger Valdivia, who lived with his parents, has confessed to killing his father.

A tip led to the investigation.

Authorities believe the slaying took place July 19 at the woman's apartment in San Antonio.

Police are investigating whether the victim was suffocated with a pillow.
