Florida -- Hallandale Beach Man Takes Joyride in Hearse. The man, a guest at the funeral, stole the hearse outside the church. A man is in the hospital after attempting to steal a hearse parked outside of a funeral in West Park.
Authorities say a hearse with the engine running was parked outside Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church located in the 5200 block of Pembroke Road.

18 year-old Johnny Silfrain was walking by, jumped into the car and fled.

The report says Silfrain stopped at his house and asked relatives if they wanted to go for a ride in a hearse.

Deputies eventually spotted the hearse heading back toward the church and began pursuit.

After a brief chase, the Silfrain was shot after almost running down a deputy.

Silfrain was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, his condition is unknown.

Show me your cemeteries, and I will tell you what kind of people you have.

Benjamin Franklin1706-1790

Grave Epigrams

What thought no mournful kindred stand
Around the solemn bier,
No parents wring the trembling hand,
Or drop the silent tear.

To costly oak adorned with art
My weary limbs enclose,
No friends impart a winding sheet
To deck my last repose.

North Wingfield, England 1794
