Lucknow, June 22: In a gory incident, a 70-year-old woman stayed with her 75-year-old brother's body for two days. It was only after the neighbours complained of foul smell and sought police intervention, that the incident came to light. According to SO (Talkatora) Suresh Chandra Tewari, the body of Tikdas Monani was recovered from the bedroom of his C-27 Rajajipuram residence. Mohani was unmarried and stayed with his sister (also unmarried), Laxmi Monani. According to the neighbours, he had not been keeping well for some time.

Today morning, they noticed foul smell from his house and informed police.

When the cops broke into the house, they witnessed a strange sight. Laxmi was lying on the bed next to that of her brother, who was dead. She appeared in a daze and not able to take in that Tikdas was dead.

The post-mortem report revealed that he had died two days ago due to a reaction from medicines.

The neighbours claimed the brother-sister duo led very private lives and did not interact with them.

They also told the police that they had seen the woman turn on the light of the room, in which the body was found, and turn it off again, thinking that he was asleep.

The police suspected the woman had lost her mental equilibrium and said further investigation was on.
