The Old Bones Cemetery Discussion Group has been functioning since 1996. This is a wonderful, informative group of researchers, most concerned with the restoration and preservation of old cemeteries. CATALOGING A CEMETERY

When doing cemetery research it a wonderful idea to catalog the

whole cemetery. It is very possible that the cemetery won't be there

the next time you wish to visit and cataloging is one way to assure

there is atleast ONE record of the cemetery. The Texas Historical

Commission provides a CEMETERY SURVEY FORM for

researchers.

There are many good pages on SURVEYING A CEMETERY .
Included with this subject are some addresses that include "Do's and
Don'ts" , gravestone symbols, stone rubbing, and cleaning. These
address are intended for use as "reference" and may or may not express
my personal openion.

STATE LISTINGS

The State Listings Page is a list of links that I have found that may
be helpful in our quest to preserve threatened cemeteries. This page
includes The District of Columbia and the United States. Addresses
included are the State Government page for each state which gives
the address for each governor and many government officials. The
cemetery statutes for each state I have found is also linked here.
You will find addresses for historical societies, archeaology dept.,
SHP Officers, historical societies, and anything other that I have
found possibly relevant. This list is by NO MEANS complete.

Federal Organizations: This page includes Federal Organizations and
other agencies that may be worth contacting. Also included are some miscellaneous addresses that give information for each state and it's government.
