Driver Being Investigated For Second Case

CLEVELAND -- An ambulance driver accused of stealing from a corpse is now being investigated on suspicion of a second incident, NewsChannel5 reported. Charles Slagle, 32, drove for Advance Ambulance, which has a contract with Cuyahoga County.


In the first case, police said he drove the body of a 43-year-old man in May, then used the man's personal information to gain access to his bank account.


Investigators said $11,000 is missing from the account of another man who recently died.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- An ambulance driver is accused of stealing $20,000 from the bank account of a dead man he transported to the morgue in Cleveland.


Charles Slagle, 32, of Berea, was charged with theft.


Slagle was a driver for a company that has a contract to transport corpses to the Cuyahoga County coroner's office. Police said he drove the body of a 43-year-old man in May, then used the man's personal information to gain access to his bank account.


The ambulance company said Slagle no longer works for it.
