La Salle teen charged in connection with cemetery vandalism PDF Print E-mail

Illionos--One arrest has been made in connection with vandalism at Berean Cemetery and Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson said he expects more charges to be filed.
Eric J. Uranich, 17, of 1720 Campbell St., La Salle has been charged with criminal damage to property greater than $300, Thompson said this morning.
About 55 tombstones in the small cemetery, some more than 100 years old, were knocked over and damaged around 10 p.m. Friday. The cemetery is located northwest of Ladd.

Thompson said today he still has not received an estimate on the monetary value of the damaged stones.

Uranich was expected to appear for a bond hearing this morning.

“We do expect additional charges to come out of this, but that will be up to the state’s attorney’s office,” Thompson said.

Thompson said he does not expect to file any charges against four other juveniles who have been interviewed in the investigation.
